Last review 2017. Still great in 2024. Most places have raised prices a lot from 2017 to 2024. This place still has great prices and great food.

Honestly visited this place on a whim after an early movie in La Jolla, and I'm very glad I found it! The place has a persona of its own which brings a great experience. There is plenty of space both inside and outside, and you can tell people really like this place because it was packed. For me, the flavor was there but it was lacking some seasoning and spread. It was not a big deal, however, because the prices are VERY hard to beat! A burger, fries, and a beer for $10??? I felt like I was back in 2007! I'd definitely recommend checking this place out, for a solid yet affordable meal!

Randomly found this place when looking for a burger in the area. It's a relatively small unassuming place with an outdoor patio in a strip mall. The menu has a couple sandwiches, a couple burgers, a couple dogs, and a couple salads. Not large but we still had difficulty deciding what to order. I went with the Breakfast in America burger and upgraded to truffle fries. Oh man the burger was near perfection. It had three slices of thick and smokey bacon cooked nice and crispy, a fried egg with a slightly gooey yolk, melty cheese, lettuce, tomato, and grilled onions with a large juicy patty that was flavorful and cooked to a perfect medium well. It was messy but oh so delicious. The fries were good but the star was the burger. My husband ordered the sandwich with beef and sausage which was pretty spicy. While good, it paled in comparison to the burger. Bottled water is complimentary which was a nice touch. Overall our total was around $30 and the portions were so large we couldn't finish. If I'm in the area again, I will definitely return.

This was my go-to spot in college. The owner is friendly and the service was always good. One time I went with a group a friends and he recognized some of us so he gave us some free fries and a plate of pita with hummus and tzatziki. I usually ordered the big shoulders burger which I always enjoyed. All the burgers here have great flavor and hit the spot. I will note that how cooked the patty was varied sometimes despite me always ordering it the same way, but to be fair if you come here as often as I did, it's bound to happen. Also, I was sad when they slightly increased the price of the burgers, but in this economy I get it. The burgers are pretty big and come with a big pile of fries so I still think it's a good deal. You also get a complimentary drink which is nice. There's a handful of tables inside and a tv that plays sports. There are a couple of picnic tables outside too. The place usually had some customers when I'd go in the afternoon on weekdays and would sometimes be busier on the weekend. The food always came out pretty quickly though. I hope this place stays open for a long time because if I ever visit San Diego again, this will be my first stop.
